3D ARTIST ISSUE 30
In this, my 2nd offering to the Back to Basics section, I supplied a scene with a guitar and some textures. The purpose of the tutorial is to walk the reader through the basic work flow of Materials and Textures in Blender.
In the tutorial I go over the theory behind the workflow and then walk you through the process of assigning faces of the mesh to Material Indexes as well as multi-use of Textures and Materials to streamline the process of texturing.
3D ARTIST ISSUE 29
In my first Back to Basics tutorial I covered the basic modeling work flow in Blender with this fun Escher-inspired piece.
I explain and show the advantages of using both Object mode and Edit Mode when modeling.
3D ARTIST ISSUE 28
In this issue I outlined a workable animation work flow for cloth in Blender.
It was the result of extensive testing to use cloth in a practical production work flow.
The tips in this tutorial will save you hours of aggravating testing.
3D ARTIST ISSUE 25
In my second tutorial I outline the theory and use of layers in Blender's Texture Panel along with a non-destructive method of painting that allows you to assign colors after you paint your maps allowing for maximum flexibility in the texturing process.
After the painting is done an object can be colored in any way you want multiple instances of an object can have unique paint jobs all from the same maps.
3D ARTIST ISSUE 25
For this issue I did a tutorial on importing and using MOCAP data in Blender.
Again full of practical usable tips for getting good animation that you can use in a production environment with many types of characters.
